Answers to Your Questions

How will my child be grouped?

Will TAA keep a record of grades and submit necessary reporting to NYS?

What curriculum will my child be using? Why that choice?

At TAA we use Abeka as our primary curriculum.

We chose this particular curriculum because it is both accelerated and accredited. Abeka is rooted in biblical principles, ensuring that children not only develop solid reading, spelling, and writing skills, but also gain strong spiritual knowledge. With scripture woven throughout the curriculum, scholars have the opportunity to receive a traditional education while also instilling Godʼs truth and love into their hearts and minds each day. Abeka is parent-friendly, therefore making it easy to use, building confidence from the start within your child and yourself. Abeka is a fast-paced curriculum that effectively moves your child above their chronological age bracket.

We will also be using Horizons, Singapore Math & LifePac, which will all work harmoniously to meet the specific grade level and subject needs of our scholars.

What does collaboration look like for me as a parent?

Second to Jesus, the primary educator in the lives of your child(ren) is you! What we offer is supplemental support from experienced educators, but we have carefully chosen a curriculum that will make it easy for you to follow-up and implement on the days that we are not in community (Monday & Friday). Your child(ren)’s educational mentor will post weekly plans on Google Classroom to help guide you on what will be covered when they are in community, and what you are responsible to cover on our off days.

What does a typical day at TAA-ohc look like for a scholar?

Scholars start the day with Christ by meeting together for morning prayer. After, scholars will proceed to their scheduled classes. Weather permitting, we encourage all learning to be held outdoors so that we may learn in nature and break the rigor of confining our scholars to sit in classrooms for hours at a time as they do in traditional settings. All scholars ages 5-18 will go to lunch at noon. Following lunch, scholars will spend the rest of their day attending and participating in speciality classes or enjoying a nature walk, environmental outing, homesteading on the farm and so much more. The activities are endless and each day looks different from the next. We aim to keep our scholars busy, entertained, and having fun, all while keeping Jesus at the center of it all. How do we incorporate Jesus into all we do? We tie a scripture into every lesson, every outing, every experience.

Pre-K aged scholars are dismissed at 12pm, elementary and middle school aged scholars at 2pm, and high school aged scholars at 3pm.
